Android guide to setup Earthlink mail

1 Open your Email application from the menu, add a new account and choose 'Other'.

If you do not have an account yet, you can start setting up right away. Otherwise, open 'Settings' in the email app and choose 'Add account'.

2 In the next screen enter your account details and click on 'Login':

Email: your Earthlink email address
Password: your Earthlink email password

3 Choose pop3 and enter the following details under 'Server incoming mail':

pop3 server: pop.earthlink.net
Security type: ssl
Port: 995

4 Your account is now ready to use.

Congratulations, your account is now set up. Open the email app on your smartphone to use your email.

I just bought a new Android phone made by Motorola, but have not been able to add this email to the phone. I go to the manual account setup and reach the page for incoming server settings. As instructed above, I enter my email and password; then pop.earthlink.net for the incoming server and 995 for the incoming port. For security type, in the menu it provides SSL/TLS and SSL/TLS (Accept all certificates); and I have tried both. When the phone tries to validate server settings, I get the error message "Couldn't finish...Couldn't open connection to server". What am I doing wrong? thanks very much for your help, Charlie
