Excite mail setup on Android

Android guide to setup Excite mail

1 Open your Email application from the menu, add a new account and choose 'Other'.

If you do not have an account yet, you can start setting up right away. Otherwise, open 'Settings' in the email app and choose 'Add account'.

2 In the next screen enter your account details and click on 'Login':

Email: your Excite email address
Password: your Excite email password

3 Choose% type% and enter the following details under 'Server incoming mail':

pop3 server: pop3.excite.com
Security type: ssl
Port: 995

4 At 'Outgoing mail server' enter the details below and choose 'Login':

SMTP server: smtp.excite.com
Security type: ssl
Port: 465

Verification for sending email: yes

Username: email
Password: your Excite email password

5 Your account is now ready to use.

Congratulations, your account is now set up. Open the email app on your smartphone to use your email.

  • I have have had an email account with excite.con since 1997, then suddenlyover post year or more I have been unable to obtain my email or go to"My Excite" page.   • Are the entries in for username and literally equal to "email" and "uw email-wachtwoord" as shown? Using what I think these should have doesn't work. Thanks.

  • I cant get the phone (Sony m5) to recognise my account. username and password are correct (I've used them for 20 years). I note comments about pop3 cancellation - does this mean excite.com just wont work properly on an android phone?

  • The reason this does not work is that Bluetie bought Excite mail in 2008 and cancelled the pop3 service and will never be re-introduced again.

  • It won't let me get past the incoming server settings. It tells me "cannot safely connect to server". Whether I am on wifi or 4g. Says the same.
