Set up Android Excite

1 Go to your mail app, choose settings and add a new email account.

4 Please enter your full Excite email address and password. Then select "Manual Setup".

5 Enter the following information in the incoming settings screen:

Username: email
Password: uw email-wachtwoord
Incoming server: pop3.excite.com
Incoming poort: 995
Security type: ssl

Choose 'next'.

6 Enter the following information in the outgoing settings screen:

Outgoing server: smtp.excite.com
Outgoing port: 465
Security type: ssl
Authorisation required: yes
Username: email
Password: your email-password

  • Are the entries in for username and literally equal to "email" and "uw email-wachtwoord" as shown? Using what I think these should have doesn't work. Thanks.

  • I cant get the phone (Sony m5) to recognise my account. username and password are correct (I've used them for 20 years). I note comments about pop3 cancellation - does this mean excite.com just wont work properly on an android phone?

  • The reason this does not work is that Bluetie bought Excite mail in 2008 and cancelled the pop3 service and will never be re-introduced again.

  • It won't let me get past the incoming server settings. It tells me "cannot safely connect to server". Whether I am on wifi or 4g. Says the same.
