Set up Android OptOnline

1 Go to your mail app, choose settings and add a new email account.

3 Choose pop3.

4 Please enter your full OptOnline email address and password. Then select "Manual Setup".

5 Enter the following information in the incoming settings screen:

Username: email
Password: uw email-wachtwoord
Incoming server: mail.optonline.net
Incoming poort: 110
Security type: none

Choose 'next'.

6 Enter the following information in the outgoing settings screen:

Outgoing server: smtp.optonline.net
Outgoing port: 587
Security type: ssl
Authorisation required: yes
Username: email
Password: your email-password

  • In response to the problem of “cannot get email set up on a new Android phone”: I received the exact same message of “couldn’t open connection to server” even after following instructions. Solution for me was to enter mail.optonline.net for BOTH the incoming & outgoing servers. I had successful results afterwards.
