iPhone guide to setup AT&T mail

5 Choose 'Add mail account', and enter the following information:

Name: your own name
Email: your AT&T email address
Password: your AT&T email password
Description: a personal description

6 Choose imap and enter the following details under 'Incoming mail server':

Hostname: imap.mail.att.net
Username: your AT&T email address
Password: your AT&T email password

7 Under 'Outgoing mail server' enter the details below and choose 'next':

Hostname: smtp.mail.att.net
Username: your AT&T email address
Password: your AT&T email password

8 Choose 'Done' at the top right and restart the iPhone to activate the settings.

Congratulations, your account is now set up. Open the mail app to use your account.

  • On 4/22/21, incoming/outgoing mail abruptly stopped working on my iPhone and iPad. Settings have not changed from the ones specified above. I can still access webmail, but I'm migrating all of my email to other accounts due to lack of support for these issues. Customer support clueless.

  • Yesterday at 10 AM incoming emails would not download to both Outlook on my desktop and onto my iPhone. They worked just a few minutes prior. I could still log in through a web browser using the same credentials. None of the Help personnel had a clue. what was changed on the server end to make this happen. Oddly, the outgoing mail server still connects and works properly.

  • The incoming server you have is incorrect. There should be a “L” at the end of “mai”. It should be: imap.mail.att.net
