Verizon email settings for iPhone

iPhone guide to setup Verizon mail

1 Open 'Settings', click on 'Passwords & accounts' and 'Add account'.

Click on your provider name if it's listed, otherwise click on 'Other'

2 Choose 'Add mail account', and enter the following information:

Name: your own name
Email: your Verizon email address
Password: your Verizon email password
Description: a personal description

3 Choose pop3 and enter the following details under 'Incoming mail server':

Hostname: incoming.verizon.net
Username: your Verizon email address
Password: your Verizon email password

4 Under 'Outgoing mail server' enter the details below and choose 'next':

Hostname: outgoing.verizon.net
Username: your Verizon email address
Password: your Verizon email password

5 Make sure 'Email' is checked and click 'Save'.

Your email account is now saved. In the next steps we check if all settings are correct.

6 Click on your newly created email address and choose 'Advanced'. Make sure that the following data is correct under 'Incoming server':

Use SSL: on
Identity check: password
Server port: 995

7 Go back to the previous screen and under 'Outgoing server' click on outgoing.verizon.net. Make sure the following information is correct:

Use SSL: on
Identity check: password
Server port: 465

8 Choose 'Done' at the top right and restart the iPhone to activate the settings.

Congratulations, your account is now set up. Open the mail app to use your account.

  • I have an I-phone 6S that has lost the ability to receive e-mails from my COX e-mail provider. Following the instructions above, I'm requested to go to "settings' and open my "mail, contacts & calendars". These are three separate categories and none of them have the next directional question of "Add Account". My computer is receiving my e-mails but they are not being forwarded to my phone. I need help determining if I have all of my correct setting open, or to determine if my computer has for some reason "dropped" my I-phone account.

  • on iPhone 6 Sunday: "The mail server "mail.optonline.net" is not responding. Verify that you have entered the correct account in Mail Settings." I have no e-mails since Sunday, but do have Messages OK. My Optimum PC emails are coming through OK. I did the process and above was advised the email password was not correct. I used the new password I have for the Optimum email address. Should that be the Verizon email, or is there another for the iPhone? Why would I lose my email suddenly? I have used it for years.
