Outlook guide to setup Centurylink mail

5 Select Internet Email Addresses, click Next and enter the following data among user data:

Your name: Your full name.
Email Address: your Centurylink email address.

6 In the box Type Account below Server Information, select pop3 and fill out the following information:

Incoming e-mail: pop.centurylink.net
Incoming port: 993

Outgoing e-mail: pop.centurylink.net
Outgoing port: 143

7 Under Login Information fill in the following settings:

E-mail: your Centurylink email-adress
Password: your Centurylink email-password

Login with security: ssl

  • I am trying to get email to work on my desktop PC using MS Outlook 2016. During set-up I used "smtp.centurylink.net" as the setting for outgoing mail. I get an error message that Outlook can not connect to it. Am I using the wrong name ? I know I have entered my username and password correctly since this email address works just fine on a Mac laptop. What do you suggest ? Thanks, Gary

  • Instructions seem to be old or incorrect. I started my desktop Outlook, clicked on File, then on Account Settings. There is no Email tab (step 2 above) so there is now New option and one can go no further using these instructions.

  • WE RCENTLY SWITCHED TO CENTURY LINK. OUTLOOK WORKS PART OF THE TIME BUT CONTINUALLY ASKS FOR PASSWORD AND TELLS ME TO LOG IN THRU GMAIL. I HAVE LOGGED IN DIRECTLY IN GMAIL AND VERIFIED THE PASSWORD BUT THIS HAS NOT HELPED. SHOULD I CHANGE THE SERVER SETTING? IF SO WHAT SHOULD THEY BE. POP.CENTURYLINK.NET AS INCOMING DOES NOT WORK.
